Victor Thomas Appaneal
(November 11, 1938 - November 3, 2009)

HARFORD'S POINT TWP- Victor Thomas Appaneal passed away unexpectedly while returning home from a day of hunting November 3, 2009. He was born November 11, 1938 in Port Monmouth, NJ to Lillian & John Appaneal.

He was inspired by his stepfather Alfred Johnson and learned his trade of Master Carpentry and Masonry from Daniel Gentile and his earliest boyhood job in a brickyard. He moved to Greenville in 1967 with his former wife Carol and two young children determined to make a life of it. His talent, skill, ingenuity and tenacity materialized in the many beautiful homes, camps, and hand-picked field stone fireplaces he created in the Moosehead area for the past 42 years; his life work ranged from his first job of constructing a church in New Jersey to expansion projects at Squaw Mountain Ski Area, from helping to construct motels to building stairs, additions and countless small projects for many private homes. His passion for hunting and love of the outdoors were contagious, inspiring and a way of life that he passed on to the many people whose lives he touched and the many stories he told. His love of learning and testing of abilities was challenged in the boats he sailed, the things he flew, the mountains he climbed and the books he read. He lived his life with great compassion for its unlimited potential.

His is survived by his partner Georgiann Jardine of Greenville; a son, Scott Appaneal of Shirley; a daughter, Sandra Appaneal of Greenville; 2 brothers John & Maureen Appaneal of Middletown, NJ, and Alfred and Diane Johnson of Glendale, AZ; 2 sisters, Flora & Thomas Gormley of Hazlet, NJ, and Lillian and Charles Cooper of Middletown, NJ; nieces; nephews;and special family, John Jardine and children, Johnny, Joe, Alex, and Aysia; Shelly Jardine and daughter, Chelsea; and Christy Jardine and sons, Jordan & Michael; and former mother-in-law, Verona Dinnen of Shirley, and dear fishing partner, Uncle Sonny Schnoor of Port Monmouth, NJ; and all those he took under his wing, because he loved them.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, November, 10, 2009, at the Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal at the Masonic building on Pritham Avenue in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at 11 AM, Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Appaneal Family Memorial Trust c/o Elton A. Burkey Law Office PO Box 1437 Greenville, ME 04441, which will be donated to a charitable cause in Vics honor.
