FREDERICK H."FRED" BURDGE, SR., 65, of LAKEWOOD

FREDERICK H."FRED" BURDGE, SR., 65, of LAKEWOOD passed away Friday, June 24 at home. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Lakewood for the past three years but was a resident of Locust for most of his life. He was a self-employed mechanic who was an avid auto race car owner and enthusiast. He loved camping in his motor home.

Frederick was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Evelyn Brower Burdge. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathleen A. DeLage Burdge; two sons, Frederick H. Burdge Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Red Bank and Mark Burdge and wife, Seana, of Rumson; a brother, Raymond Burdge and his wife, Rosemary of Navesink; a sister, Nancy Thoms and her husband, Herb, of Mobile, Ala.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George DeLage and his wife, Joan, of Tinton Falls and Jack DeLage and his wife, Irene, of Spring, Texas; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric; two nephews, Raymond Burdge and his wife, Casey, Stanley DeLage and his wife, Barbara; four nieces, Gina Varela and her husband, Will, Karen Green and her husband, Eric, Laura Ward and her husband, Bob, and Diane Pasquale and her husband, Mark; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to either the St. Barnabas Hospice @ Monmouth Medical Center, SBHPCC @ MMC, 300 2nd Avenue, Long Branch, NJ, 07740 or to the Van Dyke Hospice, c/o Community Hospital, 99 Highway 37 West, Toms River, NJ, 08755. Condolences may be E-mailed to the family via the funeral home website at www.sidun.com.
